Dugway Proving Grounds And Biosafety Issues

CEP is the leading watchdog of activities and programs at the U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground in western Utah, the nation’s premier biological and chemical defense testing facility. CEP trustees have challenged Dugway’s research and testing for fifteen years, and were instrumental in preventing Dugway from developing a biological level 4 aerosol testing laboratory in 1989. CEP trustees were also the first to force public scrutiny and oversight of chemical weapons incineration in Utah.

We support verifiable international agreements to prohibit development of offensive chemical and biological weapons capabilities, and transparency in and effective citizens’ oversight of domestic CBW research.
